Meeting with Xiamen Bureau of Commerce

Jessica welcomed the officials from the Xiamen Bureau of Commerce.

Jessica mentioned that Klaus Zenkel, Vice President of the Chamber, accepted the Invitation to speak at the MOFCOM's 2022 Chinese and Foreign Investment Promotion Agencies Conference in Xiamen, due to Covid-19 related restrictions, his attendance was not possible. Yang extended an invitation to the EUCCC to participate in the 2023 China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT), to be held September 8-12 September in Xiamen.

Yang clarified the objectives of their visit, which are: To establish an official connection between Xiamen City's Bureau of Commerce and the EUCCC; To explore potential business collaboration opportunities with European companies; and to request the EUCCC's assistance in addressing future potential issues encountered by European companies in Xiamen.

Jessica introduced the 2022/2023 Position Paper and kindly advised them to review their policies to potentially enhance their business environment. Particularly with regards to the members' aspiration for equitable access to public procurement opportunities. Jessica highlighted the main recommendations from the European Chamber's European Union Tour to Brussels in January. Specifically, the Chamber urges its members and European policymakers to continue investing in knowledge and engaging in productive exchanges with China.

The Xiamen Bureau of Commerce would like to further strengthen the relationship with the Chamber and highly welcome the Chamber to visit Xiamen.
