Meeting with Mr Zheng Dongtao Chairman of CCPIT Anhui Sub-Council and Ms Zhao Ming Vice Mayor of Hefei City

On 30th March 2023, the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter General Manager, Mr Steven Basart, met with a delegation led by Mr Zheng Dongtao , Chairman of CCPIT Anhui Sub-Council, and Ms. Zhao Ming, Vice Mayor of Hefei City.
Chairman Zheng highlighted the importance of economic relations between Europe and Anhui Province, as Europe is the biggest trading partner for the province. Zheng expressed interest in further cooperation and extended an invitation to the European Chamber to participant in the 2023 International Chamber of Commerce (Anhui) conference to be held on 5-8th September in Hefei city.
Vice Mayor Zhao also gave a detailed overview of Hefei city and the city’s fast economic development, with the focus on fostering high-end manufacturing and strategic emerging industries. As a key scientific research and education base in China, it boasts many internationally and nationally recognised higher education and research institutes. In terms of business environment, Hefei was ranked in number onein the province. The vice mayor welcomed European Chamber delegates to visit Hefei.
Following the vice mayor’s introduction, Mr. Steven Basart provided an overview of the European Chamber and shared the key findings of the 2022 Business Confidence Survey and the Position Paper. The European Chamber values the opportunities from continued constructive dialogue The two sides agreed to high-level cooperation such as participation in major events and information- sharing, in order to jointly provide high-quality services for European companies and promote bilateral economic and trade relations.
