Meeting with People’s Government of Guangdong Province

On Tuesday, 11th April 2023, European Chamber President Joerg Wuttke led a delegation of Executive Committee members, South China Board, and Advisory Council members to an exclusive dialogue with Deputy Secretary General of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province Mr Zhang Yurun, who is in charge of the business and foreign affairs of Guangdong Province.

President Joerg Wuttke briefed the counterpart on the European investment projects in the Guangdong Province and the recent investment and trade development between the European Union (EU) and China. Joerg Wuttke also presented the European Business in China Position Paper 2022/2023. Other topics such as support for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) development in Guangdong, talent attraction and development, the Greater Bay Area Preferential Individual Income Tax Policy implementation, market access for foreign medical equipment manufactured in China, carbon neutrality projects and certification between EU and Guangdong have been well covered.

Mr Zhang thanked the President and the delegation for the information and the reports. He recognised the concerns raised by the European Chamber and emphasized that Guangdong is at the forefront of the opening and reform and will continue to welcome and support foreign business development locally.

Both sides agreed to continue to work closely in the future.
