Meeting with Guangzhou Municipal Government

On 17th April 2023, the European Chamber South China Chapter Vice Chair Fabian Blake met with Ms Tan Ping, vice mayor of the Guangzhou Municipal Government and member of the Municipal Government Party Group, who is in charge of human resources, commerce, and economic zones affairs, at the Guangzhou Night VIP reception. Mr Hong Qian, the director general of the Guangzhou Bureau of Commerce also joined the meeting and discussion.
Ms Tan welcomed the Vice Chair to join the VIP reception which is a kick start of the “Guangzhou International Investment Conference” where the government aimed at sharing the latest city development updates as well as planning for the year 2023 to international organizations and foreign companies. She emphasized the importance of the European companies’ operation in Guangzhou and the government is willing to take active actions and policies to promote foreign companies further developed in Guangzhou.
Mr Blake thanked the Vice Mayor and the Director General for the invitation and for arranging the time for communication and discussion on Guangzhou European business cooperation. He briefly introduced the Chamber and its members which are located in Guangzhou and shared members’ concerns related to business operations and business policies implementation. He suggested that a European and Guangzhou business and government dialogue meeting could be arranged for later this year when the chamber Business Confidence Survey Report has been launched.
