On 21st April 2023, the European Chamber South China Chapter, Board Member Aaron Finley, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) Forum Chair Daisy Yang, and Vice Chair Danica Mai were invited to attend the Salon on Deepening Exchange and Cooperation among Enterprises of China and Europe and met with Li Yan, deputy director general of China Centre for Promotion of SME Development and Yao Ling, head of Institute of European Studies, Academy International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce.

During the salon, Mr Finley presented the European Business in China Position Paper 2022/2023 and listed three suggestions on promoting entrepreneurship, digitising government services, improving transparency, and implementing Greater Bay Area Preferential Individual Income Tax Policy to attract more investment in China.

Ms Yang suggested several measures to improve the business environment for European SMEs in China, including open financing, easier administrative access, transparent policies, lowered subsidy thresholds, better talent recruitment and retention, and strengthened communication between businesses and the government, which would be a great help to improve the business environment of SMEs.

Ms Li and Ms Yao expressed gratitude for the chamber representatives' advice and shared the Sino-European Green Innovation Development and the practices in promoting China-Europe trade. And in reply to the matters raised, they assured that they would take follow-up actions and would spare no effort in addressing these problems with close cooperation with the European Chamber.
