Meeting with China Intellectual Property Administration on Trademark Protection

On 30th June, members from the Fashion and Leather Desk, IPR Working Group, and Chamber secretariat staff visited the China Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and met with officials from multiple departments. Members raised concerns about bad-faith trademark registration and challenges in trademark protection and administrative enforcement.

The Deputy Director General Li Yue received the delegation, and officials from Trademark Bureau, Regulatory Department, IP Protection, and IP Implementation and Promotion Department respectively introduced their recent work focusing on trademark protection and the countermeasures to curb bad-faith trademark registration. DDG Li also gave every delegate a small booklet as gift that shows a picture of the trademark protection landscape in China.
