Online Meeting with the EU Commission DG TAXUD on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)

On 24th July, European Chamber Carbon Market Sub-working Group invited Mr. Xavier Vanden Bosch and Mr. David Boublil at the European Commission’s DG TAXUD to debrief members on the details of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), such as its main features and implementing regulations for the transitional period, particularly its reporting requirements.

Mr. Ruixin Li, National Chair of European Chamber Carbon Market Working Group made the opening remarks, while Mr. Richard Lin, Vice Chair of European Chamber Carbon Market Working Group, moderated the panel discussion where the following topics have been discussed: the international recognition of Green Electricity Certificates issued by the Chinese Government, types of emissions under CBAM scopes, flexibilities for the calculation of embedded emissions, monitoring and reporting methods of similar accuracy with the EU's, and the verification process for the carbon emissions report.
