On 16th August, the Healthcare Equipment (HCE) Working Group and Consumable and Disposable Medical Device Committee (CDMD) submitted an advocacy letter to the Hebei Healthcare Security Administration regarding issues with the fourth batch of centralised procurement of medical consumables in Hebei Province.

The letter outlined the following key issues:

  1. Lack of a reasonable revival mechanism.
  2. Mainstream product failures to win tenders.
  3. Inconsistent guiding principles.
  4. Desire for broader transparency regarding the usage progress, effects, and patient feedback for selected products.

The HCE Working Group and CDMD Committee recommend implementing a "one strategy for one product" approach, involving a reasonable product catalogue. They also suggest prioritising mature products with sufficient market competition for volume-based procurement.

The HCE Working Group will continue to seek opportunities to communicate with the Hebei Healthcare Security Administration via various channels.
