Shanghai Chapter Participated in the CIIE Hongqiao International Economic Forum

On 6th November, the European Chamber participated in the 6th Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF) of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2023.

Mr Carlo D’Andrea, National Vice President and Shanghai Chapter Chairman of the European Chamber, delivered a speech at the parallel session of International Cooperation in Protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Fighting Against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting. 

The parallel session was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), the Office of the National Leading Group on Coordinated Implementation of Building a Quality-powered Nation and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). 

Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Mr Chen Jie and Vice Minister of the State Administration for Market Regulation Mr Tian Shihong attended the session and delivered the opening remarks. 

In his speech, Vice President D’Andrea highlighted the improvements China has been making in protecting IPR and specified the European Chamber’s contribution to this progress. Nevertheless, Vice President D’Andrea also outlined that Europe and China still face multiple challenges that are yet to be addressed in order to make further progress in this field and to attract more European companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to the Chinese market.
