European Chamber President Jens Eskelund Participated in the China-Europe Cooperation Partnership Dialogue and Made Opening Remarks

On 5th December, the European Chamber took part in the China-Europe Cooperation Partnership Dialogue on Shaping new growth driver for green development organised by National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Beijing Municipal Government.

Before the dialogue, President Jens Eskelund, along with other high-level representatives, joined a breakfast meeting with Mr. Li Chunlin, vice chairman of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and Mr. Xia Linmao, the member of the standing committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Beijing.

At the opening ceremony, President Jens Eskelund made remarks following the Vice Chairman Li Chunlin and Executive Vice Mayor of Beijing Xia Linmao. In his speech, he emphasised that both the EU and China view green and low-carbon transformation as vital for achieving sustainable development. Despite some challenges, most European companies maintain a positive outlook on China’s green development and would like to further deepen bilateral cooperation in green transit and achieve tangible outcomes.

During the event, typical cases of Sino-European co-operation on green and low-carbon development (10 in total) were released, covering a wide range of areas such as energy green transition, energy saving, carbon reduction and efficiency, green and low-carbon science and technology innovation, and the development of circular economy.

Seventy renowned European companies, including member companies of the European Chamber, and nearly 50 Chinese companies and organisations, with a total of about 200 delegates, attended the event.
