European Chamber Vice President Meets with the Deputy Secretary-General of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government Mr Huang Guanglie

On January 24, 2024, Vice President Klaus Zenkel from the European Chamber led a delegation, including Fabian Blake, Vice Chairman of the European Chamber South China Chapter, as well as representatives from Linde, Decathlon, Siemens, and Covestro. Also, present were Michael de Boer, First Secretary of the Trade section of the European Union Delegation, and Wim Peeters, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Belgium in Guangzhou, for an exclusive dialogue with Mr. Huang Guanglie, Deputy Secretary-General of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government.

Klaus Zenkel expressed gratitude for Deputy Secretary-General Huang's support and emphasized the significance of this exchange in promoting cooperation between European businesses and Guangzhou. He mentioned favorable policies offered by the Guangdong government, particularly tax incentives. He also highlighted the European Chamber's efforts in bridging European and Chinese businesses.

Deputy Secretary-General Huang appreciated the European Chamber for fostering collaboration between Europe and China. He acknowledged the presence of European companies in Guangzhou and expressed hope for more investments. He stressed the government's commitment to improving the business environment and called for regular communication channels. Huang noted the impressive economic performance of Guangdong and Guangzhou, and China's commitment to openness.

Klaus Zenkel concluded by highlighting the positive impression of the newly appointed Mayor of Guangzhou, Mr. Sun Zhiyang, who brings a valuable business perspective to the government.
