Working Level Meeting with Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province (DOFCOM)

Delegation of members of the European Chamber, South China Chapter met with the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province on January 29th, 2015, in Guangzhou. The main focus of this meeting were the key changes to the current foreign investment approval process under the proposed Foreign Investment Law. According to DOFCOM the key changes of the proposed Foreign Investment Law in terms of current foreign investment approval process are shown in following three aspects. First is the basic legal orientation. Second is the management mode of foreign investment. Third is to improve the management system of foreign investment.
During this meeting Members of the European Chamber inquired about the newly announced Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zones, however as the project is under development, specific information was not available at this stage.
The meeting was led by Mr. Vivian Desmonts, Vice Chairman of European Chamber, South China Chapter and the European Chamber delegation was received by Mr. Jinfu Yu, Director of Bureau of Fair Trade, Department of Commerce of Guangdong province.
