Roundtable with the Ministry of Commerce Department of Treaty and Law, Division of World Trade

On 31^st May, the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter received a delegation from the Division of World Trade of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and held a roundtable discussing the challenges facing European companies in China in relation to the cross-border data transfer (CBDT).

Mr Yao Chenxi, Division Director (DD) of the Division of World Trade, led the MOFCOM delegation.

The European Chamber delegation included representatives from various working groups and sectors including financial services, legal and competition, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. During the meeting, the Chamber delegation shared insight and observations from industries and put forward a series of practical recommendations to facilitate European companies’ data transfer, which were well recognised and received by the MOFCOM delegation.

The two sides agreed to more frequent exchanges on this topic in the future.
