European Chamber Speaks at Beijing International Investment and Trade Conference

On 15th July, European Chamber Secretary General Adam Dunnett spoke at the plenary session of the Beijing International Investment and Trade Conference, hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-council (CCPIT Beijing).

In his speech, Dunnett highlighted the importance of dialogue and acknowledged that recent exchanges between the Beijing Government and the European Chamber had positively resulted in improvements for several of its members.  He also referenced findings from the newly published Business Confidence Survey 2024, in which 99% of Beijing members said they were highly satisfied or satisfied with the general public safety in the city, and that 42% of Beijing members expressed interest in further investing in Beijing. He also praised the city as being a talent hub for its members but noted that the updates to China’s social insurance regime were needed to ensure that its companies and their employees can fully benefit from China’s social insurance services.

Other speakers included Liu Meiying, deputy secretary general of the Beijing Municipal Government, Guo Huaigang, chairman of CCPIT Beijing, Siddharth Chatterjee, United Nations coordinator to China, and Liu Zuozhang, executive vice chairman and secretary general of the China Council for International Investment Promotion.
