On September 14th, European Chamber Vice President Massimo Bagnasco attended the 11th China Inbound-Outbound Forum hosted by the Center for China and Globalisation at the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services. He also spoke at the policy dialogue on global trade facilitation and Beijing’s “Two Zones” policies.

During the dialogue, Bagnasco emphasised that China’s trade in services has remained underwhelming despite its ascending to the WTO in 2001 and market access barriers and regulatory challenges are the most prominent causes, as reflected in recent publications of the Chamber. He also pointed out that the positive signals sent by the Chinese government exemplified by Beijing’s “Two Zones” policies are acknowledged by member companies, though more concrete actions with clear impact are still needed.
