Interview on Mobility of Young Talents in Shanghai

On Wednesday March 4, Prof Huang Yejing of Institute of World Economy of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) interviewed the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter regarding the issue of mobility of young talents, a research project funded by Shanghai Science and Technology Commission as part of the municipal government’s efforts to transform Shanghai into a global science and technology innovation centre. General Manager Ioana Kraft and Senior Government Affairs Manager Helei Fu briefed Prof Huang the recent changes of local visa policy regarding recruitment of foreign intern and graduate and believed that this had created obstacles to attracts talents and would ultimately slow down Shanghai’s progress towards a global science and technology innovation centre. Besides the visa issue, other factors such as pollution, internet censorship, high personal income tax and high fees of international schools could also affect talent recruitment.
