Meeting with Mrs. Mieke Vandestraeten, Counsellor of the Trade section, EU Delegation in China 21 April 2015

2015-04-21 | Shanghai

All-Chiars Metting was held on 21 April 2015 and all Chairs and Vice-Chairs from working groups and forums attended this. During the meeting, Mrs. Mieke Vandestraeten made a presentation on EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI).

Mrs. Mieke Vandestraeten first addressed the necessity of driving the negotiation on the CAI. EU is China’s second largest partner in trades. Last year EU trade growth in China raised by 8.8%. However, the investment growth was very limited because of various restrictions.

3 Key messages that the EU delegation is intended to circulate:

 - The CAI will change the investment environment, and change fundamentally the prospects of doing business with China.

 - The EU delegation wants to do as much outreach as possible. The inputs from chamber members are highly appreciated. And the EU will explain as much as possible to the companies.

 - The agreement will adapt to the Chinese local circumstances. Hope to hear your inputs, your priorities.
