European Chamber Vice President Stefan Sack Meeting with Shanghai DRC DDG Gu Honghui on New Developments of CSPFTZ & Visa Policies for Foreign Interns and Graduates

On May 6, Dr. Stefan Sack, Vice President of European Chamber and Chairman of the Shanghai Board, met with Mr. Gu Honghui, Deputy Director General of Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission (DRC). DDG Gu briefed Dr. Sack the latest development of CSPFTZ and said Shanghai would further develop advanced manufacturing industry, as well as open up financial service, trade and shipping industries. Dr. Sack presented DDG Gu the Shanghai Position Paper and spoke highly of Shanghai DRC’s efforts in promoting reforms in CSPFTZ and pointed out a few areas that the local authorities can furtehr improve, in particular, ease restrictions on visas polcy for foreign interns and graduates. This will benefit both sides – the city can attract and retain more foreign talents and achieve its goal of building a sci-tech innovation center, while the European interns and graduates can get more exposure to the China market and improve mutual understanding in the long term. DDG Gu appreciated the suggestions and advices that the Chamber has provided in the past years and emphasized to strengthen communication on a regular basis.
