SME Shanghai Government Dialogue
On 11th October 2023, the European Chamber Shanghai Chapter, hosted the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) Shanghai Government Dialogue, together with the EU SME Centre. Attended by representatives of more than 10 government officials and 20 SMEs, the event provided an opportunity for European SMEs to connect with Chinese local government to deepen engagement, network and exchange experiences with other SMEs operating in China.
Advocacy Letter on New Social Insurance Law
Amidst the transformative 14th 5-year plan on Human Resources and Social Security, the European Chamber recognizes the crucial upgrades in China's social security regime, advocating for policies that balance compliance without escalating operational costs or impeding employee benefits during the transition. Highlighting the challenges faced by member companies regarding social insurance enrollment, the Chamber urges for a more inclusive approach, suggesting practical measures to allow European companies to adapt to the evolving legal landscape in China.
