Successive to the meeting on 14th May with Minister Gou Zhongwen of the General Administration of Sport of China (GAS), the European Chamber held a follow-up meeting with GAS on 11th June to discuss further details of the implementation of the sports initiative. Mr Yuan Lei, Division head of Department of foreign affairs, and other 2 colleagues from GAS were present. Ms Zhang Ziting, Head of government affairs, led the discussion from the European Chamber side.
The meeting was efficient and fruitful, covering all three topics under the sports initiative: the cooperation agreement, the Winter Olympics venue visit and the sports summit. GAS expressed a supportive and open attitude towards the initiative and provided constructive suggestions on the preparation for the events.
