Healthcare Equipment Working Group Meeting
The HCE WG had a productive meeting discussing the medical device industry, focusing on its relation to other industries, multinational corporations' research and development in the Chinese market, and enhancing team capabilities. Plans for upcoming weeks and months were also discussed, including surveys, elections, and drafting a Position Paper in March. The Chamber will continue to collect feedback and promote collaboration.

Read moreMeeting of the Consumable and Disposable Medical Device Advisory Committee (CDMD) GA Sub-group
The CDMD GA Sub-group, a committee for Consumable and Disposable Medical Devices, had a meeting on 26th January 2024. Two guest speakers, Kai Yang and Jun Liu from IQVIA, discussed trends and reforms in the medical devices industry. Yang talked about volume-based procurement (VBP) and the price catalogue for medical consumables in China, whilst Liu emphasised the importance of real-world evidence (RWE) in device approval decisions. Members expressed the need for a faster approval process and proposed a green channel for medical device products. The Chamber will further discuss and convey member opinions to relevant government departments.

Also, present were Michael de Boer, First Secretary of the Trade section of the European Union Delegation, and Wim Peeters, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Belgium in Guangzhou, for an exclusive dialogue with Mr. Huang Guanglie, Deputy Secretary-General of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government.

The First EU-Guangzhou Business Dialogue, jointly organized by the European Chamber, the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and the Huangpu District Government of Guangzhou, took place on January 24th. This conference focused on addressing policy-related issues concerning Guangzhou's latest developments and policies for foreign companies, as well as challenges faced by member companies of the chamber in their investments and operations.
