2013 EUROPE DAY

Europe Day marks a pivotal declaration by French minister for foreign affairs, Robert Schuman, on May 9, 1950, that led to the foundation of The European Union.

The designated date is a fundamental symbolic celebration to mark the nationhood of the EU with its valuable state of peace, human rights, cultural and economic values.

Europe Day is comparable to July 14 for France, April 23 for UK, 25 for Italy 30 for the Netherlands, June 6 for Sweden, October 3 for Germany and 12 for Spain…

In the midst of debt and economic crisis, where EU nations are fighting to get in the EU, questioning getting out, bickering over banking unions and political control on May 11th, 150 people in Nanjing took time to gather around the European flag and our hosting Nation China to celebrate and show the EU face and identity in China, the driving force of global economy.

Mr. Carlo D’Andrea, Chair of The EUCC Nanjing Board stressed the EU Chamber in Nanjing role and commitment to foster EU business in China and represent the interest of the companies Members with Chinese Administrations. Ms. Mirella Savegnago, new GM of the EU Chamber in Nanjing thanked the co-organizer Alliance Française represented by the director Mr. Xavier Leroux for the excellent event and Intercontinental Hotel for the outstanding hospitality and for the valuable wine.

The EUCCC Najing Chapter thanks all the members who helped  to make this a great celebration and the sponsors of the workshops: Jiangsu Skyrun, Illy and Intercontinental.
