Jiangsu Government Dialogue, Business Confidence Survey and European Chamber Position Paper hand out

On 7th November the European Chamber of Commerce in Nanjing presented the FIRST EDITION of EUCCC – Jiangsu Government Dialogue at the Sofitel Galaxy which aims to further the exchange of information between business representatives and governmental officials to facilitate the growth of business in Jiangsu in addition to improving operations and investment environment.

The event was a great success. it’s the first time that a foreign chamber of commerce gathered together 18 major Jiangsu departments which include representatives from the Bureau of trade, communication, education, customs, tax,  quarantine &inspection, Foreign affair, housing and urban-rural green construction development, European and African affairs, Development and Reform met 60 European Chamber of Commerce Nanjing member companies established in the Jiangsu Province (list below)

Ms. Qiu Xiaoping, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu CCPIT opened the meeting encouraging further cooperation.

Mr. Adam Dunnett, Secretary-General, European Union Chamber of Commerce stated that despite the tougher business conditions that have led to diminished financial performance for European companies in China in recent years, as highlighted in the Business Confidence Survey 2013 (responses from 526 European Chamber member companies) China continues to be a priority in global strategies and a mainstay for global revenue generation and European companies remain committed to the Chinese market.

Mr. Carlo D’Andrea, Chairman of Nanjing Board of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Nanjing underlined the great effort made by the EUCCC Nanjing Chapter and the Jiangsu Authorities to organize such event first in his kind in this Province; the EUCCC Jiangsu Gov. dialogue is important for the big corporate businesses to strengthen their contact with the Authorities at the provincial level and even more important for the SME because it provided them direct contacts with Jiangsu level Authorities.

Mr. D’Andrea took the opportunity of the Jiangsu Government dialogue also to present the Position Paper to the numerous attendants. In its 13th edition includes 26 vertical industry working group papers with more than 800 recommendations. It draws directly from the knowledge and expertise of the Chamber's 1,700 member companies following a six-month consultative process.

When Mr. Bernhard Weber, CFO & Vice President of BSH, gave his key note, was not only representing a big Company like BSH, but setting strong statement: “Jiangsu province is one of the most economically-advanced provinces in China…We are glad to see Jiangsu has established a good relationship with EU in both economic cooperation and foreign affairs. Not only large companies like BSH or our mother companies, but also smaller and middle sized companies from Europe are able to use the support of the EUCC when they consider investing in Jiangsu”.

While many relevant topic has been raised for discussion and answered: tax, labour, QQ as media of communication, e-commerce, education plans, the EUCCC is committed to follow up the dialogue to exchange information but also solve practical problems that affect making business in China.
