R&D Cooperation between European companies and Universities in China

Dr. Ulrike Tagscherer, Senior Scientist and China Project Director (Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research) first offered a general overview of the Chinese innovation system and the conclusions of her recent work on Science and Industry Linkages in China. Following speakers Mr. Mason Wang, Director Open Innovation (Unilever) and Mr. Floryan de Campo, Director of Shanghai Joint international Lab on Eco-Efficient product and Processes (Solvay) presented concrete examples of how big companies such as Unilever and Solvay chose to set up joint-lab and wide networks of cooperation with Chinese Universities. The speakers and the audience then discussed best practices in order to set up and develop successfully R&D projects in cooperation with Chinese Universities
