In order to promote the healthy development of China’s cross-border e-commerce industry, eight ministries, including China’s National Development and Reform Commission, the People’s Bank of China and China’s General Administration of Customs, jointly issued in 2012 the “Circular on Reform of Cross-border E-commerce Industry and Tasks of Promoting the Industry’s Rapid and Healthy Development”.

Chongqing became one of the first five pilot cities of the project across the country and the Chongqing cross-border trade e-commerce service platform has started its operation January 28th, 2014.

In a both challenging and rewarding 1.3 billion consumers market, competition dictates all sorts of new attributes in order for a given product to thrive in the Chinese market, however, one thing remains of primary importance: the price.

Chongqing project aims to set up a cross-border e-commerce service platform, which could provide overseas and local e-business enterprises with a comprehensive paperless solution for import and export customs clearance, export drawback, import tax payment, exchange payment as well as settlement. Chongqing project presents benefit in 4 aspects:

1. Help overseas brand names to open up the promising China market by means of facilitating the cooperation with Chinese famous e-business companies.

2. Decrease import trade tariffs and related taxes and fees, thus enable your products with lower prices and add a competitive edge to your products in the market.

3. Access Chinese export e-business firms with highly efficient and legitimate channels for tax refund and exchange settlement.

4. Paperless customs clearance system to help enterprises substantially improve trade clearance efficiency.

Currently, more than ten Chinese well-known e-business and related companies have joined the project, including Tmall.com and DinoDirect etc. The Chongqing government welcomes domestic and overseas e-commerce enterprises and related companies, such as logistics companies, payment companies, brand manufacturers and dealers, to take part in Chongqing’s e-business service project. We are willing to build a communication and promote a cooperation bridge for enterprises.
