The new China-Germany Tax Treaty

In cooperation with the German Chamber the European Chamber invited
Alexander Prautzsch, Tax Director, PwC China, to present about the new Sino-German Double Taxation Agreement.

Finally, the new China-Germany tax treaty has been signed after long years of waiting. Replacing the old treaty from 1985, it aligns the tax treatment of cross-border transactions and relationships with the latest trends in international economic policy. This means both opportunities and challenges for tax payers.

Mr. Prautzsch, presented the main changes in the treaty and their background. He also highlighted key risks and opportunities by using representative case studies and examples. Furthermore he compared the German treaty with other treaties that China recently signed or enacted with other European countries.
