World Bank and State Council Report on Urbanisation in China

The European Chamber Shanghai Chapter was honoured to welcome the World Bank Lead Urban Specialist Mr. Paul Procee to speak at its urbanisation series event on Thursday, 8th May.

The World Bank and State Council’s Development Research Centre published an urbanisation report in March 2014, which presents recommendations to the Chinese Government to change how it allocates land, people and capital across the country to tackle environmental degradation and other strains of rapid urbanisation. At the event, Mr. Paul Procee outlined key findings and policy recommendations of the urbanisation report and fielded questions from the audience related to urban planning, management and infrastructure in China. The 2013-2014 Position Paper was presented to Mr. Paul Procee at the conclusion of the event.
