On 6th – 7th December, 2019 China (Guangdong) - Europe Investment and Innovation Cooperation Conference (CEIICC) was held in Dongguan. CEIICC was jointly hosted by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and the European Chamber, and was organized by the Dongguan Municipal People's Government and the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province. With the aim of improving cooperation between China and Europe through infrastructure, environmental protection and intelligent manufacturing projects. Zhang Hu, Vice governor of Guangdong Provincial Government, delivered a welcoming speech.
CEIICC focused on better synchronizing the development of “5G Industrial Cooperation” and “Deepening Open Cooperation between Guangdong and Europe”, against the backdrop of the budding Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Initiative.
At the conference, the Vice Governor of Guangdong Provincial Government, Zhang Hu, together with other Chinese officials warmly welcomed all the enterprises present. H.A.Nicolas Chapuis, the Ambassador of European Union in China, delivered a speech that expressing the wish to deepen the cooperation between China and Europe especially the cooperation in the Greater Bay Area.
President Joerg Wuttke also made an address, saying that: “Guangdong is the best province in terms of technology and innovation… we can cooperate in new gadgets, IT, telecommunications, machinery, industries and finance.”
George Lau, Chair of the Chamber’s South China Chapter, said that “our members speak highly of Guangdong’s international business environment, because the government highlights efficiency, transparency and a solution-oriented mentality.” He suggested focusing on European SMEs and providing language support for EU companies.
CEIICC created a platform that connects enterprises from Guangdong and Europe as well as the government to promote the communication and cooperation that can generate shared value both in enterprises and the government.
