Tangka Art Tour

Known as a unique painting of Tibetan Buddhism and culture, Tangka is the “Encyclopedia of Tibetan culture” that reflects politics, culture, customs and social lives in the region. Thangka was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008 because of its massive religious, cultural and historical value.

For a glimpse of mysterious Tangka, European Chamber Shenyang Chapter invited members to visit Mr. Zhengbei ZHANG’s private Tangka Museum on August 6th, 2022, listening and experiencing the Buddhist classic legends and spirits that each work of art carries. Different aspects of Tangka ranging from the selection of pigments, painting and mounting to the abundant religious implication and cultural expression, deeply shocked guests on site through its broad cultural expression and values of good-will intention.

Tangka sharing was followed by briefing on iconographic statues made by Mr. Ye WANG, who developed a new type of statuary style based on Zanabazar statues. Ye shared his understanding of culture inheritance of statue art, its narration and self-practice both mentally and physically. People easily felt the strength and beauty those statues carry through their gestures and technique details.
