Brief of International Mother Language Day

Mother language accompanies everyone the whole life long. It is also the all-mighty carrier for the flourishing of cultures and traditions around the world.

Thus, UNESCO set the International Mother Language Day, aiming at showing people the current situation of the mother language culture of all nationalities in the world and promoting the diversified development of language and culture, helping people further deepen their understanding of language traditions and cultures on the basis of understanding, tolerance and dialogue. Therefore, Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School Dalian, European Chamber Shenyang Chapter, AmCham China Northeast Chapter, CCPIT Netherlands and French Alliance jointly held the 1st Session of International Mother Language Day on 2023 March 4th to develop and expand this meaningful concept.

Native speakers from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Armenia, China, Japan, South Korea and India interacted with nearly 40 language learners on site in a way of "wheel battle", letting the audience have a glimpse of the unique charm of their mother languages and dialects, while giving them a closer look at the diversified development of languages and cultures from the above-mentioned countries and region.
