On 30th March, European Chamber Nanjing Chapter hosted the Nanjing Government Dialogue 2023. Representatives of the Nanjing Bureau of Commerce along with 11 other departments of the Nanjing Municipal Government, as well as representatives of more than 50 European companies, attended the conference. The annual dialogue provides a platform where member companies can convey their concerns directly to the government and communicate with other companies.
In the opening session, Andreas Risch, chair of the Nanjing chapter, delivered the welcoming speech. Jörg Wuttke, president of the European Chamber, presented on the outlook for European business in China after the Chinese Government dropped pandemic control restrictions. Mr Zhang Zhichao, director general of the Nanjing Municipal Commerce Bureau, delivered a speech on the opportunities for European business in Nanjing. In addition, two representatives from Chamber member companies shared their experiences and suggestions on the development of foreign enterprises in China.
During panel discussions, European companies and the relevant government departments’ representatives discussed topics such as green electricity, power shortages, foreign investment policies, talent attraction policies and entry-exit policies, among others.
