European Chamber gala aids quake victims

A total of 225,000 yuan was raised at a gala dinner held by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) on May 24. The money will be donated to the One Foundation and used to help support the Sichuan earthquake victims.

Jet Li, the international film and kung-fu star and founder of One Foundation, said the foundation will organize expert teams in fields such as psychology, reconstruction and healthcare to go to quake-hit regions within 10 days.

Kiamkong Ho, chairman of EUCCC Shanghai Chapter said, "It is in these difficult times in the aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake that the Olympic spirit of hope and aspiration must go on for those who live."

"As members of the European business community in China, we unite with our Chinese people in strength and in love, and our thoughts are with them that they may turn their despair quickly into hope and aspiration," he said.
