The European Chamber welcomes the announcement that the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) has now officially dropped the case for anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures against the European wine industry, and the fact that this conclusion was brought about through an amicable bilateral dialogue between the European and Chinese wine industries. The European Chamber has long advocated that China and the EU, as important trade partners, first use dialogue to try to solve any trade disputes and to reach solutions that bring benefit to both sides. We are encouraged that last year’s high profile photovoltaic case, and now this case on wines, have been solved through dialogue and that trade frictions have therefore been minimised.
