Supervisory Board Elects States’ Representatives

On the 25th March, the Supervisory Board of the European Chamber held elections for States’ Representatives. The Supervisory Board consists of representatives from each member state country, who elect three people from among their own number to represent the group on the Chamber’s Executive Committee. The following candidates were elected as States’ Representatives: Bruno Weill (France), Sara Marchetta (Italy), and Javier Warleta (Spain). Both Mr Weill and Ms Marchetta represent a degree of continuity having served on the EXCO last year. We are delighted to welcome to the EXCO, former Insurance Working Group Chair, Javier Warleta, who will be serving his first terms on the Chamber’s leadership board.

16 representatives of the Supervisory Board attended the election, chaired by the EU Delegation, Head of Trade Section, Ulrich Weigh. The meeting also served as President Harborn’s formal introduction to the Supervisory Board. In a lively Q&A session Supervisory Board members quizzed Harborn on the Chamber’s declining membership number, the role SME’s play in the Chamber, and pondered how the Chamber may be effected by Brexit. Chair Weigl reiterated the Delegation’s strong support of the Chamber’s work and shared some behind the scenes takeaways from the Belt and Road Forum. After the meeting all attendees went for a congratulatory drink and pledged to ‘do more than solely meet the requirements set out in the Articles of Association’.
