In January 2016, the European Chamber presented the Position Paper 2015/2016 to European Union (EU) institutions in Brussels and cities of other EU Member States. A delegation of 26 people led by Chamber President Jörg Wuttke, visited Brussels from 25th to 29th January, 2016.

For the second time, a president of the European Chamber spoke at a public hearing of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA), which took place on 25th January, 2016. The primary focus of the INTA meeting was to discuss China’s MES. President Wuttke gave an overview of the overall economic and business climate as well as developments over the last year: trade statistics; China’s stock exchange; the Third Plenum; key messages from the Chamber’s Position Paper; the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB); the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (CSPFTZ); One Belt, One Road (OBOR); the CAI; rising debt levels; symbolic announcements but limited substantive progress; and RMB devaluation.
