Dear Member,
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next HCE Working Group Meeting which will be held on Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 at 14:00 at the European Union Delegation Office in Beijing. We are delighted to announce the presence of Mrs Nicole Denjoy, COCIR Secretary General, and Dr. Gerd Schmidt, COCIR Vice Chairman Technical and Regulatory Affairs for this meeting.
Proposed Agenda:
1. Annual election of the Working Group Chairpersons [start 14.00]
2. Position Paper discussion and identification of possible leads and recommendations [start 14.20]
3. Next steps – State Council Decree 276, Draft Recall regulations and SFDA Technical Evaluation guidelines [start 15.20]
4. AOB [start 15.50]
We will continue our discussion on this year’s Position Paper. As the Position Paper forms the basis of all our lobbying, you are strongly encouraged to consult widely within your own company in advance so that you can then table such recommendations for discussion at this meeting.
As agreed during our last meeting we would like to streamline this year’s paper and clearly focus on max 5 key recommendations. Following points were made on 29th February:
- Product registration (re-registration) to be kept and if needed dual registration included
- Price Controls and Tender to be kept
- Standardization important for all MDs and details to be communicated through MDER
- Post-market surveillance should be kept
- Environmental regulations to be considered and further discussed
Please find attached 2007 version of the Position Paper (EN+CN) for your reference.
As you may know, the Working Group Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group which includes the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to the Chinese and European Government as well as steering the Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chair are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts that has the time and willingness to support the group. Previous participation in the Working Group is also highly valued (a general job description is attached).
Our current Chairman Mr. David Jin unfortunately will not be available to stand for another term. On behalf of the Working Group I would like to express our sincere gratitude for his great support in making this group strong and well known even in Brussels.
The Vice Chairs, Mr. Davey Han and Mr. Camon Sin, graciously expressed their willingness to continue their Chairmanship. They along with the Chamber Secretariat encourage any other member that may be interested to also put forth his/her candidature. Anyone who is possibly interested in running for the position of Chair or Vice Chair is therefore kindly requested to inform the Chamber, mandreano@euccc.com.cn, by April 14th.
The Chamber looks forward to welcoming you at this meeting. Please confirm your attendance with Ms Vivian Cai at vcai@euccc.com.cn.
Please pass this invitation to relevant colleagues of yours in case you are not able to attend this meeting and feel free to indicate any other topic of interest ahead of the meeting.
Thank you for your support.
