US-China trade tensions have shaken global markets. While there is always the possibility of a “truce” being forged, a real solution emerging is unlikely to emerge in the near-term. The challenge in dealing with the US-China trade war is that Washington’s negotiations have been driven by three different constituents with conflicting objectives (White House, business community and the security establishment) while Beijing is preoccupied with its efforts to become a major technological power. A common theme underlying is the clash between two fundamentally different systems, whether it be at the global or country level. Europe’s deep economic linkages with China means that it is being affected negatively. But less well recognized is that that solution to the increasing global tensions may lie in Europe, since left by themselves the US and China appear unable to resolve their differences.

Our society has evolved with the mindset to create things that will benefit us in some shape or form. Those creations have been primarily focused on changing or fixing almost everything revolved around humans. But why not simply focus on changing the core component of the system, us? So why construct things to help humans while we could be making humans better off from the start? Shouldn’t we be focusing on improving humans so we wouldn’t have to be making these accommodations? And, if so, how would we be able to accomplish such a task?

Populating the human body with powerful technologies is no longer just a sci-fi fantasy. Existing and emerging technologies are rapidly ushering in an era of human augmentation, self-regulation and automated diagnosis and treatment. In order to better explore this topic, the European Chamber is very pleased to welcome you to a factory visit to Comau Songjiang in combination with a seminar on Human Augmentation, on Thursday, 24th October 2019, from 08:25 to 12:30.

Brands use social media platforms to connect with their audience, increase sales and drive website traffic to attract potential customers. In this event, our speakers we will cover two main social media platforms, TikTok and WeChat.
Since its launch in 2016, TikTok’s user base has grown to include more than 500 million people and over one billion-downloads mark.
