With raising awareness of women equality and non-negligible achievements to the world, the stereotypes of gender images, roles and relations have gradually changed. However, it is still crucial for women to raise their voice to advocate for equal treatment and boost power to make contribution to the society. US-China trade tensions have shaken global markets. While there is always the possibility of a “truce” being forged, a real solution emerging is unlikely to emerge in the near-term. The challenge in dealing with the US-China trade war is that Washington’s negotiations have been driven by three different constituents with conflicting objectives (White House, business community and the security establishment) while Beijing is preoccupied with its efforts to become a major technological power. Europe’s deep economic linkages with China means that it is being affected negatively. But less well recognized is that that solution to the increasing global tensions may lie in Europe, since left by themselves the US and China appear unable to resolve their differences.

Dear Working Group Members,

Nowadays, intellectual property (IP) constitutes a key part of business as well as a concern for enterprises of all sizes and across all sectors. Essential players in the global economy, the agriculture, food and beverage (AFB) industries are responsible for continuous innovation and intellectual property creation in their sectors, as they strive to meet evolving consumer demands and to add further value to their products. In a highly competitive China market, what are the precise things companies in the AFB sectors should pay more attention to so as to better protect their IP and secure market shares? The European Union Chamber of Commerce is delighted to invite you to attend our upcoming joint Agriculture, Food and Beverage and Intellectual Property Rights Working Group meeting, scheduled to take place on Thursday, 17th October 2019, from 14:00 to 16:00, where Mr. Tim Jackson, Principal and Head of Patent Strategy and Development at Rouse Consultancy in China, will give a presentation on the Basics of Intellectual Property in the AFB industries.
