IPR Working Group Meeting: Brand Protection Strategies in China

A strong brand is instrumental in winning new customers when entering China’s market. As lot of time and money is spent on building brand reputation, it can be damaging to SMEs if someone else started to sell their products under the same brand name. Thus, brand protection is the key to success on China’s market. Successful protection, however, requires a comprehensive strategy, including registering IP such as trademarks, monitoring the market and taking action when spotting infringements.

In 2019, a significant overhaul of the individual income tax (“IIT”) system has been introduced with a number of changes like IIT calculation method, redefinition of tax resident and non-resident, introduction of additional itemized deductions, transition period for certain preferential policy, etc. for individuals of Chinese or foreign nationality.
