Our society has evolved with the mindset to create things that will benefit us in some shape or form. Those creations have been primarily focused on changing or fixing almost everything revolved around humans. But why not simply focus on changing the core component of the system, us? So why construct things to help humans while we could be making humans better off from the start? Shouldn’t we be focusing on improving humans so we wouldn’t have to be making these accommodations? And, if so, how would we be able to accomplish such a task?

Populating the human body with powerful technologies is no longer just a sci-fi fantasy. Existing and emerging technologies are rapidly ushering in an era of human augmentation, self-regulation and automated diagnosis and treatment. In order to better explore this topic, the European Chamber is very pleased to welcome you to a factory visit to Comau Songjiang in combination with a seminar on Human Augmentation, on Thursday, 24th October 2019, from 08:25 to 12:30.

Presented by AVCJ and Mergermarket, the 4th Annual China M&A Forum will bring together 300+ senior corporate investors, private equity fund managers, M&A advisers, and policymakers from across the globe to discuss the latest drivers, regulatory and policy updates, key opportunities, and the most pressing challenges that are impacting the M&A landscape.

One of the biggest challenges facing European companies in China is the perpetuation of China’s ‘economic caste system’, which distinguishes companies by ownership, and favours state-owned over private and local over foreign. This biased economic structure pits finance-starved private companies against the unnaturally enhanced, inefficient SOEs that are at the core of China’s structural problems. The continuation of this system is doing little to inspire the European business communities’ long-term confidence in China’s economy.
