The European Chamber has received a first draft of the Product Quality Law. Although this draft is not publicly available for comments, the European Chamber would like to invite you to a closed-door session where the Chamber will share this first draft and members will have the opportunity to provide initial comments on it.

However, with the increasing polarisation of the world, the strategic dimension of standards-setting has acquired new relevance. The European Union Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the US-China Business Council (USCBC), is pleased to invite you to our next Working Group meeting, where two experts will discuss both the geopolitical aspects of Chinese standardisation and the perspective and experiences of US businesses when it comes to China’s standards-setting system.

The IP Tribunal of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) recently issued a decision in Dunjun v. Tengda ((2019) SPC IP Civil No. 147), holding that the manufacturer’s making and selling of routers directly infringed a telecommunication method-of-use patent even though the manufacturer itself did not perform the patented method. This case is recognised the Chinese Akamai case.

The European Chamber is delighted to invite Mr. Steve SONG, Partner and Patent Attorney of Beijing DHH Law Firm, who represented the defendant in this landmark case to provide our members insights by studying the judgement of a few cases regarding multi-party patent infringement.
