In every port, freight companies, port operations, port management and staff involved in transport have one common goal: to get the goods through the port as quickly and reliably as possible. To coordinate the growing flows of traffic and goods in the port even more efficiently, the Hamburg Port Authority has developed the smart-PORT logistics concept. In cooperation with SAP and T-Systems, the Hamburg Port Authority has developed its cloud-based information and communication system, SPL, with the goal of staggering the high volume of everyday traffic on the port’s roadways and optimising goods flows. SPL runs on the Connected Car Services ICT platform from Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems. The service includes SAP software (SAP Connected Logistics), the in-memory database SAP HANA, various vehicle-related real-time services and an app for smart devices (TelematicOne, product of T-Systems).
