The fallout of the global financial crisis has impacted the world in a profound way. While Europe struggles through a protracted crisis, Asia continues to emerge as a major economic and political power. Given the rising importance of co-operation between Asia and Europe in this uncertain era, there is a strong impetus to understand how Asia is seen from Europe and to study Europeans’ perceptions of Asia. How does Europe perceive Asia’s rise? How is China’s regional role perceived in Europe? Is Europe well equipped to deal with Asia’s increasing economic and political power?
