At this meeting we will discuss recent developments in Europe and potential implications on business in China from both the regulatory perspective and the geopolitical perspective. Ms Ester Canada Amela, Senior European Affairs Manager, European Chamber will provide a brief update for WG members on recent EU regulations that the Chamber envisions will come to impact member companies in China.

At this meeting we will also hold Working Group Chair and Vice Chair Elections for 2022/2023. We encourage as many of our members as possible to attend to have their say in the leadership and representation of the Working Group in the year ahead.

In the context of carbon neutrality, the EU and the industrial front have carried out research on the recycling technology of electronic and electrical waste, especially focusing on the recycling technology of rare earth elements and rare metals with high added value in solar panels, electric vehicles, batteries and electronic circuit boards. This combination of resources and energy carbon reduction measures has an important reference significance for the choice of China's resource strategy and energy strategy, and also has a guiding role for enterprises engaged in waste recycling.
碳中和的大环境下欧盟和产业前沿展开了包括电子电器废弃物回收技术的研究，特别关注于太阳能板、电动汽车、电池、电子线路板中高附加值稀土元素和稀有金属的回收利用技术，此项结合了资源和能源减碳的措施对我国资源战略和能源战略的选择有着重要的借鉴意义，对从事废弃物回收利用的国内企业也有方向性的指导作用。

2022 Two Sessions - the Fifth Session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Fifth Session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) kicked off on March 4 and 5 respectively in Beijing. These two events are the annual gatherings of the nation’s top legislature and its top body of political advisers. Delegates and party members from all over the country attend the sessions where key political and economic issues are discussed and central decisions are made.
