Innovation Evolution: Future Mobility in China

Greener, smarter, cheaper, faster...we depict the future automobile in all the wonderful ways possible. Yet how much is our imagination realistic, and in a future that is how close? Today, we invited experts in mobility policy, new energy vehicle (NEV), hydrogen power and automobile consultancy to present you a panel discussion on the topic of future mobility in China.

For a long time, the field of technical standardisation was confined to a reduced circle of experts and received little widespread coverage. However, with the increasing polarisation of the world, the strategic dimension of standards-setting has acquired new relevance. The European Union Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the US-China Business Council (USCBC), is pleased to invite you to our next Working Group meeting, where two experts will discuss both the geopolitical aspects of Chinese standardisation and the perspective and experiences of US businesses when it comes to China’s standards-setting system.

The phrase 'new infrastructure' was first introduced back in 2018 by Chinese policy makers, but only since the COVID-19 outbreak the central government has started to repeatedly call for accelerated efforts in seven areas, namely, 5G, AI, industrial internet, big data centers, ultra-high voltage power transmission, high-speed rail, subways and charging facilities for new-energy vehicles, which are likely to boost the growth of certain industries, for instance, Intelligient Connected Vehicle (ICV).
