With ocean industries being a strong driving force behind the country’s economic growth, business opportunities are to be discovered by companies. Zhoushan city has the highest contribution of the maritime economy to the city’s GDP among prefecture-level cities across China, with over 65% of its GDP from ocean sectors. The local government aims to build a modern ocean city focusing on high quality development of its maritime industries. The European Chamber is honoured to invite the Zhoushan Municipal Government and Investment Promotion Centre to brief the latest development of maritime economy, the city’s supportive policies, and further opportunities for foreign companies in China.

Multinational companies in China are facing more regulatory pressure on cybersecurity and data transmission in recent years. On one hand, China has stepped up its cyber-related legislation with an unprecedented speed. On the other hand, the Coronavirus outbreak, by forcing companies and individuals to rely on online tools and hybrid workplace, has further underlined the importance for enterprises to review its approach to cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity Law has brought heavy impact on the business community in China; particularly, cross-border data transfer requirements are likely to be thorny for companies. Foreign companies that previously had a global approach to cyber security and compliance are pressed to revise their regional cybersecurity compliance and their current cybersecurity practices.
The European Chamber is delighted to invite subject matter experts to decipher the Chinese regulation on cross-border data flows, and cover how to comply with the increasing needs for cyber security defense and dynamic regulations, last but not least share some practical solutions to cybersecurity.
