The need to feed and care for 1.35 billion people places food and drug safety high on the Chinese Government’s list of priorities. The launch of China Manufacturing 2025 is partly aimed at upgrading and modernising supply, which, if implemented successfully, should have a direct positive impact on food and drug safety. In this issue European Chamber members have contributed articles on the topics of dealing with ‘professional consumers’, the importance of drug safety and the challenge to food safety posed by China’s new consumption habits, among other.
