IPR Working Group Meeting: Brand Protection Strategies in China

A strong brand is instrumental in winning new customers when entering China’s market. As lot of time and money is spent on building brand reputation, it can be damaging to SMEs if someone else started to sell their products under the same brand name. Thus, brand protection is the key to success on China’s market. Successful protection, however, requires a comprehensive strategy, including registering IP such as trademarks, monitoring the market and taking action when spotting infringements.

For many, the CSR function has been critically important in working closely alongside other key functions to ensure coordination of initiatives to both mitigate negative impact to the company and to maximize support to employees and other important stakeholders. As the situation continues to evolve and move beyond immediate crisis response, the focus of the CSR function needs to shift to improving preparedness, prevention, and organizational resilience. In this webinar, we will explore what critical steps and issues CSR practitioners need to consider next, to ensure their companies are capturing and acting on “lessons learned”.

The Corporate Social Credit System (SCS) is quietly changing the working of the Chinese economy. While the worldwide outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted many areas of the business community operating in China, in particular SMEs, the CSCS is still working and expanding its areas of influence. The difficulties in the resumption of work and failure the consecutive failure to provide as promised could post unknown consequences in the business SCS record. In this regard, the SCS could be an ally or a threat for SMEs, depending on the correct understanding of this influential tool.
