Nobel Prize Winner Professor Stiglitz shares insights with Chamber members

The European Chamber hosted a breakfast seminar with Nobel Prize Winner Professor Joseph Stiglitz on 20th March in Beijing. Before an audience of over 180 people from the European business community, Professor Stiglitz examined the reasons and impacts of the current economic crisis, analyzed China’s stimulus package and provided suggestions for overcoming the challenges ahead.

Author of the highly influential Globalization and its Discontents and Making Globalization Work, the 2001 Nobel Laureate in Economics and former World Bank Chief Economist, Professor Stiglitz is famous for advocating a globalisation devoid of free-market 'fundamentalism'. In his works and previous speeches, he has also pointed out the necessity for meaningful reforms within global economic and financial institutions.

This is the second time that the European Chamber invited Professor Stiglitz to speak at the Chamber’s breakfast seminar. Last year’s seminar was also well received by more than 120 attendants. For more upcoming events by the European Chamber, please visit:
