First High-level Meeting Held between Office for the Harmonisation of the Internal Market and the European Chamber

On 23rd April the President of the Office for the Harmonisation of the Internal Market (OHIM) Mr Wubbo de Boer visited the European Chamber in Beijing. It was the first high-level meeting between OHIM and the European Chamber. Mr de Boer was welcomed by Chamber President Joerg Wuttke and Secretary General Dirk Moens. After a brief introduction to the European Chamber, its Working Groups and the Position Paper, Paul Ranjard, Beijing IPR WG Chairman gave an overview of China's evolution with regards to IP protection, making a distinction between patent related issues and trademarks. The meeting was followed by a visit of the premises and a presentation of the China IPR SME Helpdesk.

Mr de Boer and his delegation joined a group of Trade Mark experts from the Beijing IPR Working Group for a detailed discussion on the European and Chinese Trade Mark system.

The two organizations are keen to remain in contact and exchange information with regards to the development of the Trade Mark system in Europe and China.
